Stems
Stems on the CDJ-2000NXS2, like OverCue on a CDJ-3000: a STEMS button in Key Shift's place opens a VOCAL / DRUMS / INST row under the waveform. Tap a part to mute it or bring it back, in time and sample-exact; all three on is the original track. The deck plays the stems OverCue Desktop makes on your rekordbox USB stick and decodes them itself, so there is nothing to convert: in OverCue's settings, prepare stems for the CDJ-2000 family (44.1 kHz FLAC). With OverCue's stem waveforms, the detail and overview waveforms (RGB, BLUE and 3-Band) follow the stems too.

- Player
- Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2, firmware 1.87
- Needs
- Nothing else: works on its own.
- Known limits
- Beta: tested in the CDJ-2000NXS2 emulator, not yet on a deck.
- Needs stems from OverCue Desktop 2.2.11 or newer on the USB stick, prepared for the CDJ-2000 family (44.1 kHz FLAC): the ? next to Stems in the patcher shows how. Stems prepared for the CDJ-3000 (96 kHz) play too; the deck then converts them to 44.1 kHz, which costs more of its DSP.
- OverCue's 44.1 kHz format is new: its alignment with the track is worked out but not yet measured on a real stick. If a part sounds doubled or phasey when you mute another, please report it.
- Deck 1 only, for tracks on the deck's own USB stick or SD card, analysed by rekordbox; not over Pro DJ Link or from a disc. MP3, WAV, AIFF and FLAC tracks at 44.1 kHz; not M4A.
- The stems play at OverCue's level, so the first part you mute also lowers the rest by OverCue's headroom (a few dB).
- Not together with Key Shift (the same button place) or Dual Deck. Next to Stems the GUI flash has room for one of 3-Band Waveform, Stacked Waveform and Beat Numbers (each with BPM Decimals if you like), not two of them.
- With Beat Numbers, the VOCAL / DRUMS / INST row covers the beat numbers while the STEMS panel is open.
Changelog
- v1.0.0Latest
- First release (beta, emulator-tested): a STEMS button in Key Shift's place and a VOCAL / DRUMS / INST row under the waveform; any mix of the three plays sample-exact, all three on is the original.
- Plays OverCue's own stems from the USB stick or SD card: the deck decodes OverCue's FLAC pages itself. 44.1 kHz stems (OverCue 2.2.11+, CDJ-2000 family) play as they are; 96 kHz stems (CDJ-3000) are converted on the deck.
- With OverCue's stem waveforms the detail and overview waveforms follow the stems in RGB, BLUE and 3-Band.
- Combines with Gate Cue, Search Beat Jump, No Waveform Glow and BPM Decimals, and with one of 3-Band Waveform, Stacked Waveform and Beat Numbers (the GUI flash has no room for two of them next to Stems). Every Stems build uses the full MAIN flash area.
